Reminder and Request

This Saturday will be our next get together at All Saints from 10AM-12PM. I hope you can make it.

Also THREADS has put out a request to us:

Threads has a specific need for little boys toddler pants 24 months, 2T, 3T, 4T. We are out of pants in these sizes and don’t have pants in neighboring sizes that we could give out to fill that void.

So, if you have any of extras or know of any good sales please bring some pants in the next time you come to All Saints, whether for Choir and Wednesday Night Supper, Little Saints Foyer Group, or Services on Sunday. There is always a donation bin located behind the Parish Life counter just inside Ellis Hall.

Thanks,

Tim

Next Saturday

It was wonderful to share Kanuga with many of you last weekend. It was great to see a lot of the babies born this past summer healthy and excruciatingly cute. As always Kanuga had plenty of arms available for holding babies. Once again Little Saints parents dominated the fun run. It would be nice to get a little more participants in the polar bear swim.

Our next get together will be Saturday, October 15, 10AM-12PM at All Saints. As always bring snacks or lunch if you like. Devon Jackoniski and I helped out at THREADS last time so if anybody would like to help out next Saturday let me know. We basically hung clothes on hangers, which give the regular volunteers a chance to help any clients that might come in on Saturday.

This will be our last Little Saints Foyer Group until the new year. There are some great opportunities coming up at All Saints in November and December that there is no real reason to have our own get together.

Plan ahead:

November 5 will be the Fall Festival at All Saints leading up to All Saints Sunday the following day. There is always some sort of program for kids on Saturday morning and the Cherub Choir will be singing as well.

St. Nicholas Supper will be on an early Wednesday in December. This is a great way to begin celebrating Advent with your family. Look for details in Sunday bulletins and the All Saints Monthly. Also, everybody here should be receiving e-mails from Noelle every few weeks with reminders. If you are not receiving e-mails from Noelle that is personal problem that you should fix by sending her an e-mail: nyorksimmons@allsaintsatlanta.org.

Peace,

Reminder

Our next get together is this Saturday at All Saints from 10AM-12PM. Should be a beautiful almost fall morning. I just spoke with Lori the Director of THREADS and she looks forward to a few volunteers that morning that can help sort clothing. If you are still interested in helping with THREADS that morning let me know. She is expecting people at 10AM.

A few things coming up at All Saints: The Annual Canvass Kickoff Breakfast is this Sunday between services. It is a free. Beth and I hope you can attend if you are able.

On Sunday, September 25th, there will be a Men's supper featuring "Steaks in the Courtyard." This will be a great evening for Dads and a great way to get know some other men in the parish before Kanuga.

Of course Kanuga is just a few weeks off. It is amazing how many of us will be attending this year. If you've never been to Kanuga make sure you ask people who have about what to bring and what not to bring. And try as hard as you can to get out of Atlanta before traffic builds up on I-85 on Friday afternoon.

You probably all received an email from Lauri asking if you could help with Childcare on Saturday morning at Kanuga. Please volunteer as soon as you can or at least tell her you won't be using the childcare in the morning. I am leading the "fun run" so I expect a lot of people up and running by 7:30am that morning. Also don't forget your speedo's for the polar bear swim.

Celebration of Ministries Sunday

I wanted to first thank Sato & Scott Watkins, Helen Taylor, and Kelly Mauriello for volunteering to carry some banners this Sunday. It is backbreaking work that is not for the faint of heart.

I hope everybody is planning on coming this Sunday. If you usually go the late service make sure you come early to peruse the ministry tables. Father Chuck is also going to have a "Journey through the Bible" open house in the Pritchett Center. If you've never been to the second floor, this is a great morning to check out the Childrens Ministry area. Also make sure you register your children for the nursery if you haven't before.

As you'll see on Sunday there is a lot going on at All Saints and there are numerous opportunities to serve, learn, and worship. If you have some time on Sunday I want you to do one of two things. Walk around and seek out a ministry you don't know about and introduce yourself to the people behind the table. From making baptismal banners to serving meals at Covenant Community to working on the church finances there are a lot of volunteer hours going into making All Saints the amazing place it is. This is a great Sunday to say thank you to the people who do that work. You might be surprised how many people in this Little Saints Foyer Group are standing behind tables.

The other thing you can do is look for other young families and introduce them to the Little Saints ministry and our foyer group. Sato & Scott Watkins will be standing at our table with handouts and some goodies. Tell them our next get together is September 17 from 10AM-12PM. A good way of introducing yourself to somebody you don't know at All Saints is to ask how long they've been attending.

Hope to see you guys on Sunday. If I don't have a great Labor Day.

The end of summer (academic)

Everything is gearing up for the fall even though the temperature is still solidly in the 90s every afternoon.

I wanted to let you know that we have scheduled two foyer groups for the fall. One will be Saturday, September 17, and the other will be Saturday, October 15. Both will be at the All Saints playground from 10AM to noon. I will send some reminders closer to the dates. Let me know if you would be interested in helping at Threads on one of those mornings. I know that Saturday mornings are a good time to help Threads and there will be enough parents on the playground to give a few of us a chance to help with that important ministry.

Volunteer Opportunities: There are a few needs coming up that I hope we can get some volunteers for.

First up is Celebration of Ministries Sunday on August 28. We need somebody to carry the Little Saints banner and somebody to carry the Guild of the Christ Child banner at either the 9AM or 11:15AM Service. We also need a few people willing to stand at the the table between services and pass out some material. Beth and I will be representing the Annual Canvass this year and really need help representing the Little Saints program. Please let me know as soon as possible how you can help.

Second, Little Saints Church and Sunday School is about to start. We need to know who is willing to help during the next year. We need people willing to be red aprons and willing to lead Little Saints church and lessons for both the 2 year old room and the 3 & 4 year old rooms. Please let us know if you want to help out this year. The more people we get the fewer times any one person will have to do it. This is a good opportunity to get god-parents and uncles and aunts involved as well.

If you are interested in helping out, send us an e-mail at bluefrilingos@juno.com.

Thanks,

Timothy & Beth Frilingos

This Saturday, May 7

Just a reminder that our next get together is this Saturday at All Saints starting at 10AM in the playground. Should be a beautiful morning. Bring snacks for your family. There should be a baptism orientation going on at the same time so keep a look out for new families walking to the sanctuary.

I was looking at the church calendar and May promises to be a wonderful month for celebrating God's work in the lives of our children. Starting with Holy Baptism on May 8 and then continuing with the Rite 13 service on May 15 and concluding on May 22 with Confirmation for our 10th graders. It will be a great celebrating these events with our children and youth.

Also June 5 will be All Saints' best parish picnic ever. How do I know? Because picnic chairs Michael and Leslie Aiken say it will be. Perhaps I will finally win the dessert competition.

Have a wonderful week, and I hope to see many of you on Saturday!

In like a lion. . .

I am not sure if lions have ever been used as a metaphor for a stomach virus, but at our house the king of the jungle in the form of bathroom visits, loads of laundry, and saltines has been very noisy the last few days. Perhaps this means good health to our family for the rest of the month.

We have scheduled our next Little Saints Foyer Group get together for Saturday, May 7 from 10AM to 1PM. This will be the day before Baptisms and the baptism orientation will be occurring while we are meeting in the playground. This will be a great morning to meet some new families at All Saints.

I am also going to contact our THREADS coordinator and offer her a few volunteers for that morning. She usually opens up the shop on Saturday. I am not sure what she would need help with, but I am sure a few extra hands would be great. Please contact me, bluefrilingos@juno.com, if you would be interested in volunteering for THREADS that morning for a few hours. While you help, your children can play and be watched by other parents.

With the beginning of Lent and the following Easter season there are a lot of great opportunities at All Saints for families and every parishioner. The Women's Retreat (March 24-27) may still have a few spots if you are interested in a weekend of reflection and relaxation at St. George's Island, Florida. The Men's Retreat (April 30 - May 1) is being organized. It will be an overnight trip to Callaway Gardens with golfing and fishing opportunities and Trav Carter's renowned low country boil. If you (or your spouse) are interested in the Men's Retreat contact Jeb Brees at jebbrees@gmail.com so he can determine interest level in the trip.

Of course a lot is going on at All Saints from Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, to Holy Week. I will be sending a few more e-mails between now and Easter to let you know what is going on.
