We are in need of more volunteers to teach the 2's, 3's and 4's Children's Formation classes on Sunday mornings for the second half of the year. The expectation is that you would be scheduled to teach once every 6-8 weeks. All lessons and materials provided. It is a wonderful opportunity to see first hand the experiences that your children have and the stories they hear on Sunday morning as well as to get to know some of their peers. And they LOVE having you there!

Message from Rev'd. Chuck Girardeau about this Sunday
Christmas Pageant
The annual All Saints’ Christmas Pageant will be presented during the 9:00 celebration of the Holy Eucharist in church on December 19th. All children are invited to dress in Nativity Biblical garb and participate (angels, shepherds, Mary, Joseph, wise men, sheep, donkeys, cows, etc.). The church has lots of costumes for you to use. The costumes will be available in our Sunday School rooms, on the 2nd floor of the Pritchett Center that morning, or you can use your own costume. Come between 8:30 AM and 8:50 AM to dress. This is an unrehearsed pageant. Children sit with their families and come forward during the carols at the appropriate times which will be indicated in the service bulletin.
If your child does wear a Christmas Pageant costume provided by the parish, please return that costume to the proper room on the second floor of the Pritchett Center. Please help us with the storage of these costumes by taking a moment and folding them nicely. These helpful steps save time and effort for those repacking the costumes for next year.

Wonderful Weekend
A big thanks to those who chipped-in to help put together lunches last Saturday for the All Saints Habitat for Humanity build. It was a great morning and the lunches were really appreciated at the job site.
I hope many of you got to share in the baptisms on Sunday. It is always a moving service as we welcome the newly baptized.
We won't be getting together until the new year, but there are tons of things to do at All Saints this December. Don't forget to sign up for the St. Nicholas supper on Dec 8 and Sunday, Dec 19, we will have another memorable Christmas pageant during the 9AM service. Also there are many opportunities to give this holiday season, either to Threads or through the angel tree and Midtown Assistance Center. Get your kids involved in picking out items to donate. If you have any questions about these activities you can contact me or check out the All Saints website for current information. I look forward to seeing all of you during the Advent and Christmas seasons.

This Saturday
We have volunteers for all of our Habitat for Humanity catering needs except drinks so far. If anyone out there still wants to help we really need somebody to provide drinks. Cans of coke, juice boxes, gatorade, etc. for about 50. If you think you can only do half let me know, chances are two families will respond that way. If you can't bring them on Sunday you can drop them off on Thursday or Friday. Just let me know. Also, does anyone know where we can get some condiment packets of mayo and mustard. I went to Costco, but they didn't have them. If you can get them and bring them on Saturday that would be great.
If you are planning on coming on Saturday from 10AM-12PM be aware that there is Ga Tech game at noon, which means the All Saints Parking lot will be monitored. Just let the sexton know you are coming to an All Saints event and enter the parking lot from Ponce de Leon Ave. We need plenty of help both making sandwiches and watching the kids. It will be cool in the morning, but the playground will be open. Don't forget to bring snacks for your own family if you come.
Thursday night is the annual Woodall Lecture. I encourage you to come if you are able. This year's speaker is Serene Jones president of Union Theological Seminary. This is a free event and well worth the midweek effort.
This Sunday is Commitment Sunday (when financial pledges for 2011 are dedicated during the worship services) and Baptism Sunday. Please look out for new faces and families and I encourage you all to go up and congratulate the newly baptized at either the 9AM or 11:15AM service even if you don't know them.
Also if you haven't made your pledge for 2011 please consider making one before Sunday. You can do it online. If you have never pledged this is a great way to make a commitment to the parish community. Remember this is not a one time gift, but instead a discipline of giving to the church that you practice all year.

Next Event:: November 13, 2010
I hope everybody had a happy Halloween.
Our next get together is Nov. 13, and as I mentioned earlier it is a chance for us to help out the All Saints Habitat for Humanity crew by making lunch. Both Beth and I have been able to volunteer a Saturday in October and I know many of you have as well. That lunch break is truly rewarding after swinging hammers and moving lumber around all morning.
The plan will be to have some parents watching the kids on the playground while the rest of us put together the lunches. Please e-mail us at bluefrilingos@juno.com if you are planning on coming. We will need to have everything ready to go by 11:30AM so plan on coming by 10AM. If the weather is too cold for the playground we should have Ellis Hall open. We will probably want some activities or toys for the kids.
Not only do we need help making lunches we need supplies as well. If you can't come Saturday, but would like to donate supplies I can arrange it so you can drop them off during the week. This is what we need (I have been told to provide 40-50 lunches):
Sandwiches (Beth and I will handle these supplies)
Chip Bags: variety packs of the individual bags would be good.
Apples: one a piece (I think gala are the best this time of year)
Drinks:this could be individual bottles of water + sports drink; juice boxes; gallon containers and cups
Dessert: Brownies or cookies (store bought or homemade)
Plates, napkins, baggies for sandwiches and desserts
If you can bring any of those things let me know, and let me know if you will bring it Saturday or if you want to drop it off earlier.
This is a great way to help this house get built.
Also coming up at All Saints:
Fall Festival (Nov 6) and All Saints Sunday (Nov 7) are wonderful opportunities to share in fellowship and worship at the parish.
First Wednesday in December is St. Nicholas Supper and their will be multiple opportunities to give toys and clothing this Advent season. For those of us with older children this is a great way of showing them that giving is a thoughtful way to celebrate the season.

Pet Blessing this Sunday & Kanuga Photos
This is a reminder that this Sunday at 9AM there will be a Pet Blessing in Ellis Hall. This is a great opportunity to take your kids with you to the service so they can experience corporate worship in a relaxed, informal environment. There will be no Little Saints Church or Little Saints Sunday School this week because of the Pet Blessing.
Our next get together will be Nov 13 at All Saints. While the kids play some of us will be helping make lunches for our Habitat volunteers. I am going to be working at the site this Saturday so I will have a better idea what we need to do for lunches. Next week I will ask for volunteers for that day to bring ingredients and help make lunches, while other parents watch the kids. We may even be able to get some of the older kids involved in assembling the lunch bags. If you want to volunteer to help the actual build over the next two months there is still time to sign up. Another parish retreat to Kanuga has come and gone. It was amazing. The weather was ideal and no trips to Hendersonville E.R. for the Frilingos family. Thanks to Rob and Laurie Burlington for organizing childcare on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Beth and I helped out by leading a hike of 4 year olds around Lake Kanuga. With consistent headcounts and help from Luke Barton, Michael Aiken, Kevin York-Simmons, the Jackoniski's, and the Mauriello's. we brought 18 kids safely back.
Below are some photos from the weekend. It is difficult to make out faces, but the beauty of the camp is evident.

Beautiful Morning
What a great morning we had last Saturday at All Saints. We had a nice group out to the playground for a few hours of fun. Enjoy the photos. Our next get-together will be in November, but I look forward to seeing many of you at Kanuga in a few weeks.
